Applications are invited for a 3-year postdoctoralposition at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) at Imperial College London (http://lms.mrc.ac.uk/ ) to work in the Molecular Systems group headed by Dr Tobias Warnecke.

We are looking for a curious, creative and collaborative postdoctoral scientist who wants to join a diverse interdisciplinary research team that works at the intersection of molecular evolution, systems biology, and epigenetics.

The group’s current work is centred on chromatin evolution, with a particular focus on archaea. We seek to understand chromatin organization, evolution, and evolvability in a comparative context using both computational and experimental approaches. For more detailed information about our work, please visit the group’s website (http://molsys.lms.mrc.ac.uk/ ).

We are looking to study the fundamentals of chromatin evolution in engineered microbes, using E. coli and yeast as model systems. We are therefore looking for a candidate with experience in the genetic manipulation of microbes (including high-throughput approaches, e.g. CRISPR, transposon mutagenesis, etc.) and/or large-scale data analysis. Candidates keen to mix wet and dry lab work are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience in yeast genetics and experimental evolution is a definite plus. Candidates must have a strong publication record, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a track record of addressing scientific problems in an innovative, thoughtful and systematic manner. Whatever your background, a keen interest in evolutionary processes and chromatins is a must.

This post is a MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist to support post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career training and help establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. We offer a highly attractive benefits package including competitive salary, excellent holiday entitlement and generous pension scheme.

Please contact Dr Warnecke for further information about the post ([email protected] ).
