The LMS is a world-class research laboratory where scientists and clinicians collaborate to advance the understanding of biology and its application to medicine. Funded by the MRC as part of UK Research and Innovation , the LMS has a collaborative working culture and new state-of-the-art building based in the heart of West London in the Hammersmith Hospital Campus (W12).
The LMS aims to deliver transdisciplinary team science, in synergistic interaction with Imperial College and the wider national research environment. Part of achieving this, is to recruit new talent and support postdoctoral scientists to become world leaders in their area of science.

£39,375 plus London allowances (£3,913 & £1,472) per annum
Additional allowances comprise a £1,000 lump sum Settlement Allowance plus a yearly Training Allowance of £850 in the first year, paid in monthly instalments. The Training Allowance increases to £1,300 in year two.

Overall purpose:
This project will explore the role of human genetic variation in spatial genome organisation.
Main responsibilities:
- To plan and carry out research
- To write and publish the results
- To form good working relationships with other members of the group
- To assist others and co-supervise students when required
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of the group’s experimental or computational infrastructure as appropriate
Education / Qualifications / Training required (will be assessed from application form):
Essential:
- PhD or equivalent experience
Previous work experience required (will be assessed from application form and at interview):
Essential:
- Experience with the computational analysis of genome architecture data and other high throughput sequencing data
- Expertise in human genetics and the analysis of human sequence variation
Desirable:
Expertise in the biology of cohesin and CTCF would be a substantial advantage
Knowledge and experience ( will be assessed from application form and at interview):
Essential:
- Ability to develop and apply new concepts
- Fluency in R and other coding languages
- Ability to independently carry out computational projects and analyses
- Creative approach to problem solving
- Good understanding of computational biology methods
- Great attention to details
- Good written communication skills in English
