Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Assistant based at the Oxford Molecular Diagnostic Centre (OMDC), a clinically accredited, inter-disciplinary Centre, funded to undertake major programmes of translational research in molecular diagnostics in cancer and haematological malignancies within the University of Oxford; there is a particular focus on development and evaluation of next-generation genomic technologies for use in clinical trials.

You will provide technical and administrative support in the sample reception and pre-processing of clinical samples collected as part of clinical trials and studies hosted in the OMDC laboratory, holding primary responsibility for the samples collected and stored for the DART trial. You will manage and maintain sample databases and trackers and regularly update stakeholders in the OMDC and DART trial. There will be opportunity for you to acquire experience in molecular diagnostics including, but not limited to, sample preparation, morphology and histopathology, cell-sorting, DNA and RNA extractions, DNA QC and basic molecular testing.

You will hold an A Level or equivalent in a scientific subject and have previous experience of working in a laboratory environment. Sound knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices, Quality Assurance and regulatory framework of laboratory management in the UK is essential, along with high-level communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent MS Office skills.

This is a full-time post, available until 30 September 2023.
