An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Molecular and Cellular Biology Specialist (Technical Specialist) to support the research of the Cellular Genetics Programme, as a member of the core wet lab support team. You will join a dynamic team and work collaboratively across the Programme, the Sanger Institute and the wider scientific community, to support a wide variety of projects, including the Human Cell Atlas work, being undertaken in Cellular Genetics.

You will play a fundamental role within the team which provides expertise to support; the development and implementation of pioneering spatial genomic technologies and also bespoke sequencing library creation for gene expression, immune cell profiling and chromatin accessibility analysis of single cells or nuclei in preparation for downstream NGS analysis.

You will be involved in establishing, contributing to and managing the delivery of a number of different projects running simultaneously. You will work to test and implement new protocols and scale them up as required by the faculty research groups aiming to deliver the protocols independently and establishing the expertise within the team and across the Programme. You will interact with external collaborators to support sample acquisition logistics, sample management and processing and also with our operations teams to submit samples for further analysis.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills alongside strong time management and organisational skills are needed as is the ability to troubleshoot and identify areas for process improvement.
