Mental Health Advisor

Mental Health is an area we at the University of Reading take very seriously, we are looking for a team player who can think outside the box and offer guidance, support (both individually and in a group/workshop) and compassion to our students and staff. Our in-house service is supported by a team of Counsellors, Social Workers and Mental Health nurses. 

The University of Reading offers staff in-house training, pensions, generous annual leave and employee assistance programs, as well a wide range of other support and benefits. The Counselling and Wellbeing team is a supportive team, both to students and to each other. We welcome change, growth ideas and development of support mechanisms. Staff are offered, within the team, clinical CPD, part funded supervision, 1:1 support and multidisciplinary clinical meetings to enhance clinical development. Our service is based at Whiteknights Campus, surrounded by green spaces, eateries, a gym and as a staff member you will also have full access to the library.

You will have:

• Experience of supporting those with complex mental health conditions 
• The ability to manage crisis situations and appropriately respond and refer those needing additional support
• The ability to develop, coordinate and host workshops and groups
• Experience of using a database
• The ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
• Experience of assessing clinical needs and determining needs of clients.
• Experience of cross collaboration with other teams, such as NHS/Social services etc.
