The Role

You will provide a range of support to students experiencing short- and long-term mental health difficulties while they are at university.

This involves:

  • Plan safe and appropriate management of risk in relation to service referrals
  • Collaborative working with appropriate internal and external support
  • Respond to crisis situations involving acute mental health issues
  • Undertake triage, clinical assessments, priority sessions and workshops/group
  • Make appropriate referrals to and liaise with Crisis Team, Consultants, and other NHS mental health practitioners.
  • Organising and participating in university health promotion activities.

Qualification Required

Degree in appropriate discipline (Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Counselling).

Membership and/or accreditation of appropriate professional organisation.

Our Successful Candidate

To provide well-being advice and support to students who are experiencing acute mental health issues and exercise flexibility in responding to mental health crisis as well as managing a caseload of students, providing one-one support. This includes, conducing assessments and referring to appropriate specialist services.

Working collaboratively with academic and support staff across the University in facilitating access to university programmes for students and contribute to protocols on disability and mental health and other related issues.
