Mental Health Adviser – Full time, Permanent
We are currently looking to recruit a Mental Health Adviser on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the experience and passion in this area to support our students.

The role
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver a range of proactive support to assist students to develop skills to manage and maintain their mental health and wellbeing. You will provide, emotional and practical mental health support to students including advising and acting on safeguarding issues. The appointed person will take a casework approach and respond to students causing significant concern, implement emergency and safeguarding procedures, and review and evaluate student progress.
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for someone with a proactive, positive and collaborative approach when working with both internal and external stakeholders alike, and someone who, ideally, has extensive experience of supporting people with mental health difficulties. The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills in providing advice and guidance to students with mental health issues.
Candidates must evidence the essential criteria for the role, such as:
- A degree or professional qualification in a related field such as mental health nursing, counselling, psychology or social work mental health officer.
- Significant post qualification experience in delivering one to one mental health support to individuals online and in person, including experience of conducting an in-depth assessment of clients presenting with complex needs, risk and crisis.
- Experience in designing delivering group activities, online and in person, which support and promote mental wellbeing.
- Experience of working in a clinical team setting, with proven ability in managing a caseload and maintaining records in line with GDPR.
- Thorough knowledge of mental health issues, services, practices, provision and legislation in the UK.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work effectively, to manage own workload and to balance competing demands in order to meet agreed deadlines.
Benefits we offer
Salary: £33,309 - £39,739 per annum (Grade 5) + Pension (Employer contribution of 20.8%)
