The role of Mental Health Adviser & Specialist Mentor will work within the Student Advisory & Wellbeing team and will be expected to provide specialist advice, guidance and information to students with mental health difficulties, and contribute towards student retention and attainment through the delivery of services that support students’ emotional and psychological wellbeing. The post holder will also provide specialist mentoring support to students in receipt of Disabled Students Allowance and will advise on the range of reasonable adjustments and support available within the university and communicate students’ needs to academic Schools and Professional Services. Candidates must hold a professional qualification which provides membership (or eligibility for membership) for at least one of the mandatory qualifications for Specialist Mentor (Mental Health). They must also have excellent knowledge and experience of the mental health and support needs of students and / or young people (16-25 years old). You should also have experience of developing and delivering presentations and psycho-educational workshops on mental health topics and of managing a caseload and maintaining casefiles in line with data protection and GDPR legislation. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate excellent communication, time management and organisational skills and will be able to work flexibly to best support student needs.
