Salary

Full time starting salary is normally in the range of £35,559 to £39,434 per annum


About the role

This role is suitable for a confident and experienced media relations professional who has a keen news sense and the ability to create attention-grabbing copy. Reporting to the Head of Media Relations, you'll be responsible for helping to develop and implement Cranfield’s media relations strategy.

You will proactively source news stories from across the University, writing press releases and pitching to secure media interest locally, nationally and internationally. You’ll undertake a range of press office tasks including fielding media enquiries, hosting broadcasters, briefing journalists and academics and supporting key events and VIP visits. 

You will manage a varied workload as part of a busy press office team and be part of the incident management team and the press office out of hours rota. 

About you

You’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a demonstrable track record of building relationships with the media and delivering media relations activities. You'll have first class news judgement and writing skills, and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines. You’ll need to be organised, proactive, able to multitask and a team player.
