The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), based in the Oxford Department of International Development, seeks a fixed-term Media and Communications Manager. The post is for 1 year in the first instance with the expectation of extension, funding permitting. The line manager is OPHI Director, Dr Sabina Alkire. The postholder will work closely with OPHI’s communications advisor (consultant), and will supervise the web manager and line-manage the publications officer, casual communications assistant, copyeditors and other communications team members.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of media and public relations, and an ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of research and policy target audiences; substantial experience of overseeing editing, copy editing and proofreading, with the ability to undertake negotiations in connection with the process; extensive direct experience of developing, updating and maintaining the content of an active, evolving, and highly used website; and excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, consistent and accurate copy in accessible English.
