Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring social media marketer with a passion for content creation. Working within the Marketing Communications Team, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the wider King’s community and beyond to support the delivery of impactful and engaging content for our corporate social media accounts.

Our social media activity predominantly targets prospective students whilst engaging with current students across a range of channels including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and X. You may also support the coordination of content for use across other channels as required.

The Marketing Coordinator (Social Media) is responsible for supporting the delivery of awareness, engagement and conversion activity within the prospective student journey across our corporate social media channels. The activity delivered supports departmental objectives to increase the volume of applications from high achieving students across King’s portfolio of courses and convince offer holders to accept their offer and enrol.

We are looking for a friendly and creative individual who is highly organised, innovative and able to work on their own initiative. Alongside a proven interest in social media marketing, you will have a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people. Due to the nature of this role, we are ideally looking for candidates who are comfortable being on camera and appearing in social media content as this may be required.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.


Key responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team to develop social media campaigns;
  • Assist with the creation and curation of engaging content for social media platforms including: in-house, working with contributors, at events and more;
  • Scheduling posts via our social media management platform;
  • Supporting delivery of the Unibuddy scheme, including day-to-day management of student ambassadors, payment and enquiry management;
  • Support the day-to-day running of the student content creator strand of the student ambassador scheme;
  • Regular social media research to propose new ideas for social media content;
  • Undertake administrative tasks such as recruitment, allocation and payment of student ambassadors; booking rooms and venues for social media shoots; putting up filming and photography signs; preparing consent forms; liaising with project stakeholders and contributors;
  • Responding to enquiries from our community management agency and supporting with enquiry management across our social channels;
  • Contribute to reporting and analysis for social media campaigns and content performance as required;
  • Webpage creation, editing and optimisation to support social media campaigns as required;
  • Support budget management through tracking of project spend.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of creating content for social media channels (in particular Instagram, TikTok and/or YouTube)
  • Ability to understand historical, current, and future trends in the social media space
  • Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good copyediting and proofreading skills with excellent grammar and spelling
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask
  • Strong IT, Microsoft Office and general office administrative skills
  • Good team player
  • Proactive, able to work on own initiative.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or professional marketing/events management qualification
  • Direct experience using social media management tools (such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Sprinklr etc.)
  • Proficiency with video and photo editing tools, digital media formats (ideally Adobe Creative Cloud suite)
  • King’s College London currently operates a hybrid working model with a minimum of 5 days a month in the office (at least 1-2 days a week) alongside working from home however this can vary on any given week and contractually you need to be able to work 5 days a week in the office/on campus if required.

    The selection process for this role will involve a remote panel interview on Teams consisting of a pre-prepared presentation followed by competency-based questions. A follow up face-to-face informal meeting with the Head of Marketing Communications and other members of the team may also be required prior to appointment. Interviews will take place in April. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
