We have an exciting opportunity for a Market Insight and Analytics Manager who can build on the strengths of our current team, to further develop and lead the delivery and development of a market insight service that is client focused, cost effective, efficient, and influences senior colleagues’ understanding of our markets and the opportunities they present to enable confident decision making about our programme offering under the dynamic and challenging conditions of UK Higher Education (HE).

The University of Plymouth’s Market Insight and Analytics team plays a critical role in supporting academic units across the university to ensure our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are aligned to the constantly changing patterns of prospective student demand and competitor offerings. They draw upon HE sector and competitor data to analyse trends, competitor offerings and applicant behaviours to provide bespoke analyses, reports and expert advice as well as Power BI dashboards providing colleagues’ direct access to essential sector, competitor and market data to enable self-service within Faculties and Schools.

The team are highly capable, productive, well organised and engaged with internal clients across all of our Schools, and respected for the expert analyses and advice they provide to help the University deliver on its academic mission, remain competitive and offer a high-quality student experience. To support this, the team also manage and provide analyses and reporting for a range of student surveys including the National Student Survey (NSS), Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) the Graduate Outcomes survey.

You will lead the identification and leveraging of insights from the external market analyses and the range of student surveys, engage with senior academics across the university to help turn insight into action, change and improved outcomes, manage relationships with internal senior stakeholders and external data services providers, coordinate closely with senior colleagues, especially those in Marketing and Recruitment, and drawing upon market intelligence and horizon scanning be a key contributor to wider dialogue about emerging opportunities in developing our academic offerings.

The Market Insight and Analytics team is part of the Planning & Analytics Office, which works across all academic and professional services units of the University, to help the organisation achieve its strategic ambitions, and you and the team are an essential part of fulfilling that wider departmental purpose.

We seek someone with a passion for mentoring and developing a team and who has a proven track record of excellent leadership, an inquisitive disposition, experience and strong skills in working with complex data sets and analytical tools, exceptional attention to detail and accuracy and a thoroughgoing commitment to quality in all aspects of the service’s support to the University. Equally important, you will be a strong communicator, able to convey key points and recommendation from the team’s analyses to influence decision making. Experience of working within Higher Education is advantageous but not essential.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours a week.
