Offer Description

The MetaLab at University College London is a cognitive neuroscience group based at the Department of Experimental Psychology and the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging (https://metacoglab.org ). The lab uses a combination of neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, MEG) in conjunction with theoretical and computational modelling to investigate human metacognition and self-awareness.

A PhD position is available in Prof. Stephen Fleming’s lab at the Department of Experimental Psychology and Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging, University College London and is funded for 3 years in the first instance. The successful candidate will work on studies of decision-making and metacognition, with a specific focus on how individual differences in confidence formation predict features of information-seeking and offloading behaviour across the lifespan. Research methods include computational modeling, brain imaging (fMRI, MEG), psychophysics, and other techniques. The position will be affiliated with an international network of 9 research labs located throughout Europe. See https://metacoglab.org and https://sites.google.com/view/confidentdecisions/ for more information. The successful candidate will receive interdisciplinary training in theories and methods for the study of decision confidence and metacognition. This includes many network-wide events and other (international) training opportunities. Salary is offered at £38,859 - £47,459 per annum (inclusive of London allowance), dependent on fellow circumstances.
