Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

Bryken Precision Engineering is a family-owned company based in Knowsley (the Liverpool City Region) and is a manufacturer of precision engineered machined components. They are a major supplier to numerous blue-chip companies and household names in the UK.

Bryken Precision Engineering and Liverpool John Moores University have collaborated to run a Knowledge Transfer Partnerships project with the aim of developing and implementing innovative processes and procedures in the company. The emphasis will be on the comprehensive collection and interpretation of data from manufacturing and quality systems.

To support this project’s success, we are looking to bring on a Manufacturing Data Integration Specialist (Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate) on a full-time basis, for a fixed term of 24 months.

You will be expected to collaborate closely with the business partner, actively contributing to the creation of visualisation dashboards for key personnel. The aim is to enhance quality, minimise waste, and optimise processes.

We are looking for someone with an eagerness to fault-find, which may require the assembly/disassembly of equipment in a workshop environment. You will utilise technical knowledge to solve complex problems in a commercial/industrial setting.

You will have experience in processing, analysing, and summarising large data sets using commercial software such as MiniTab or SPSS. You will also be competent in at least one programming language, such as Python, C++, or similar. Prior experience of using a recognised project management methodology to deliver agreed objectives as part of a broader project lifecycle, would be advantageous.

This post will be based at Bryken Precision Engineering's manufacturing facility in Knowsley; however, you will maintain regular communication with and receive support from academic supervisors at LJMU.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

Informal enquiries may be made to Mohamed Kara-Mohamed, [email protected] or Andrew Naylor, [email protected] .

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.

LJMU are committed to adhering to the Principles set out in the Researcher Development Concordat; in line with this all fixed-term researchers will be supported to complete 10 days professional development activities per year (pro-rata).
