Job Purpose

Reporting to the Dean at Khalifa University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), the Manager for Accreditation and Continuous Quality improvement supports the Dean in providing administrative leadership and policy development for accreditation / reaccreditation of the MD program and maintenance of a program of continuous quality improvement in accordance with accreditation standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

This role is expected to:

  • Contribute to the formulation of the CMHS’s strategy, with a focus on meeting KU and CMHS strategic goals in the areas of medical student assessment and evaluation.
  • Contribute to development of the CMHS’s policies and procedures, adhering to the overall objectives of Khalifa University, ensuring alignment to applicable regulations and standards and promoting of leading practices and educational excellence
  • Contribute to the development and management of the office budget
  • Manage and mentor staff within the office

Operational Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the implementation of education quality assurance programs, disseminate guidelines on education quality assurance, and provide expert guidance within the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates policies and procedures to monitor institutional and programmatic compliance with accreditation standards
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates policies and procedures for a CMHS program of continuous quality improvement
  • Produces data and reports on educational performance in coordination with faculty, measuring it against set standards and KPIs.
  • Identifies and maintains sound understanding of the operating environment which may impact education quality.
  • Gathers and maintains data (dashboard) to support accreditation and CQI processes
  • Advises and provides support to offices, departments, faculty and students during the accreditation process
  • Prepares and submits materials to accrediting bodies
  • Overseas and coordinates visits of accrediting bodies
  • Creates annual reports for CMHS leadership
  • Provides information or prepares reports as and when needed
  • Adheres to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and reports breaches or other security risks accordingly
  • Coordinates with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Dean

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring as required to enhance the internal capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.
  • Recommend appropriate training courses as per the pre-determined training needs, evaluate their effectiveness, and monitor their results.
  • Carry out performance appraisals for subordinates according to planned schedules and recommend necessary actions as per the applied practices.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow is running smoothly.
  • Follow-up on employees' administrative affairs such as vacations, leaves and other administrative and related affairs.

  • M.D., Ph.D. or Ed.D in an appropriate field of study
  • Qualified for faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher
  • Prior experience with accreditation and/or CQI processes

Required Experience

  • A minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in working collaboratively with faculty members and medicine professionals, strong interpersonal skills, and a thorough understanding of university structure and culture are essential.
  • Demonstrable ethical behavior, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and leadership and management abilities that are sufficient to effectively direct and develop staff and students.

Preferred Experiences

  • Familiarity or experience with an education institution in the Middle East.
