Assessment, Credit and Qualifications (ACQ) sits within the wider unit of Academic Services. ACQ has four core areas of work: Academic Quality and Standards, Policy and Projects, Operations, and Resource Planning, Strategy and Communications. ACQ staff work closely with colleagues from across the University and with external bodies to; support students and their learning experience, assure academic standards, provide advice and guidance to academic and professional services staff, and ensure that essential services related to assessment, credit and qualifications are delivered

The Academic Quality and Standards Team are a small which supports the University’s quality assurance and enhancement of its taught undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications and modules.

The role 

The Manager, Academic Quality and Standards is responsible for the management of the assigned activities.  You will assist in supporting the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students) in carrying out their institutional responsibilities for ensuring academic quality assurance and enhancement frameworks effectively address external regulatory expectations.  The role requires close working with stakeholders from across the university and the Senior Manager who is responsible for the leadership and management of the activities of the internal quality assurance and assessment.

Skills and experience 

  • A first degree in any subject, or equivalent professional education, or work experience at a comparable level;
  • Experience of managing internal quality assurance and/or external accreditation or assurance reviews;
  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage own time effectively;
  • Skills in negotiation, influencing and persuasion, liaising effectively with a wide range of people.
