Makerspace Programme Assistant/Technician

Contract Type:

Fixed-term until 30 September 2024 (to cover a secondment)

Working Pattern:

Part-time, working 21 hours per week, working Monday to Wednesday.

An ability to work outside of standard working hours, including early mornings, during school holidays and occasional weekend working for events.

The Maker{Futures} programme has numerous strands including a mobile makerspace and Maker{School} programme. You will work with the Programme Officers and Associates to organise, set up and pack away all resources for makerspace sessions. You will drive the team’s hybrid Transit van to and from events and ensure it is fully charged beforehand. You will be part of a team loading and unloading the equipment on the van and setting up mobile makerspace sessions which will be delivered in schools, museums and community spaces. You will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate early starts and occasional weekend events. At events you will coordinate a series of maker-based activities during the workshops such as robotics, electronics, cardboard construction and other STEM/STEAM related activities, ensuring they are conducted in line with plans and with risk assessments. You will undertake evaluation activities on completion of workshops. You will also have experience in digital communication and support with social media, blog posts and media related to the programme such as contributing to a digital newsletter.

In addition, you will also contribute to other aspects of the Maker{Futures} programme, as required and in line with the grade of the post. For example, supporting training for volunteers and/ or continuing professional development sessions for teachers.
