). This position offers a talented Machine Learning Engineer the opportunity to join a fast growing and creative organisation in the digital humanities sector with a highly driven management team who are intent on significantly expanding the business.


The University and the company are seeking to recruit a high calibre graduate to lead on the design and deployment of machine learning tools applied to machine translation. The company, Guildhawk Ltd., is one of the leading translation companies in the UK and won the Queen's Award for Excellence in 2019. Although already utilising some machine translation capability, current systems are unsuitable for all applications and often require significant human input from Guildhawk’s team of expert translators.

The post is remote, with regular meetings at the company’s flexible office space in Sheffield, and the successful candidate will work directly with company staff in the software development team. Support in machine learning, software engineering, and quality management processes will be provided by experts at Sheffield Hallam University. Some travel to and from the University will be expected.

Ideally, you will have a Master’s degree in Software Engineering / Computing or equivalent, with an interest in digital humanities. A good first degree with appropriate experience may be acceptable.
