Delivered through the Library Portal, Arden’s extensive fully digital library provides our students with full access to 100% of reading materials.

This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join us in our brand-new role of Library Systems and Metadata Manager, working in a fully digital environment and developing our innovative systems infrastructure.

The Role

You will be at the forefront of optimising the Library systems which make up the Arden University Library Service IT infrastructure ensuring our students have an intuitive system that's easy to navigate.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • The effective day-to-day administration of the range of Library Systems which make up the Library Service IT infrastructure.
  • Maintaining the discoverability and accessibility of resources, ensuring that access is supported by high quality metadata.

You will lead on the successful development of key Library IT infrastructure projects and the production of systems engagement data to inform continual service improvement.

About You:   

You will have significant hands-on experience in Library systems administration and development, having worked in a systems role in a Higher Education Library, along with extensive experience of implementing, maintaining and developing systems such as Library Management Systems, Discovery Services, Reading List Management Systems and Digital Repositories.

You will need to be able to think strategically, to troubleshoot and resolve access issues, taking into account the requirements and views of a broad range of stakeholders. You will be able to innovate and continuously improve processes and development systems. You will also need excellent communication skills including an ability to deliver information and training to technical and non-technical colleagues.
