This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the successful and highly regarded library service at Birmingham Newman University. 

You will work as part of a small team of Library Service Advisors to assist in the day-to-day running of the Library. One of your main duties will be to staff the busy Service Desk, where you will provide a welcoming first point of contact to the Library’s users. You will respond to a wide range of enquiries – helping students and other library users to manage their library accounts, find and use print and electronic resources, and utilise the library and IT facilities effectively. You will also complete a variety of administrative tasks, including processing books, managing the library mailbox, and participating in wider library projects. 

No prior experience of working in a library is required, but the successful candidate must have a good level of literacy, administrative skills, and IT skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to respond to a range of enquiries with confidence. You should be passionate about providing a timely and high-quality customer service to library users, and you should be enthusiastic about adopting new technologies. You may sometimes be asked to work non-standard working hours, so flexibility and adaptability is also a must-have.
