An opportunity has arisen for a forward-looking and proactive individual to join our Resource Provision team.  The Library Content Assistant will work as part of a team, acquiring and managing access to the Library’s print and digital collections for all students and staff, both on and off-campus.

As part of the Resource Provision Team, you will work closely with colleagues to order and receive print and digital library resources, in all formats, and to all library users. The team acquires new content and makes it available via library systems, including the Library Discovery service, OneSearch and the online Resource List System, Leganto.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate confidently with colleagues, students, university staff and external contacts. Accuracy and an eye for detail is important, as well as the ability to use initiative and be self-motivated.

Lancaster University Library provides an outstanding environment for study and research. We are committed to being user-focussed, digitally driven, socially inclusive and innovative in our approach to service provision.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive, and the library has made Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity one of the key aims of our vision, The Library Towards 2025. We will provide an inclusive, supportive and safe environment where everyone belongs and can contribute to our distinctiveness. We welcome applications from people in diverse groups, particularly encouraging applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

We are a Disability Confident employer and we work to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made for our colleagues to reduce barriers to inclusion at work.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. Consideration will be given to job share applications. We also provide a comprehensive set of staff benefits and development opportunities.

If you have any questions or would like to arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Elaine Sykes, Acting Associate Director (Content and Open Research), [email protected]
