Cambridge University Libraries wishes to appoint a part-time Senior Library Assistant to support the delivery of library services at the Cambridge University Library Music Department. The department is part of the library's Special Collections division.

As Senior Library Assistant, your main responsibility will be to make our modern and special music collections available to our readers and to respond to user enquiries.

A core part of the role is the provision of an effective, inclusive service to library users, both online and in person. As part of a small team, you will have a variety of responsibilities. You will liaise with colleagues at the Pendlebury Library of Music and other departments and divisions, including Rare Books, Manuscripts and Modern Archives and World Collections.

You will ensure collections are available through purchasing, classification and cataloguing and you will be able to participate in the provision of music-specific information literacy training. You will also contribute to the library's social media accounts, the library website and Music LibGuide.

Applicants will have a good knowledge of music, excellent communication skills, and will have had experience of working as part of a team and of providing exceptional customer services in any environment. You will be able to work unsupervised, show attention to detail, problem solve, and be willing to contribute to the development of outstanding library services.

Reporting to the Head of Music Collections, you will join a supportive wider team of library staff from across Cambridge University Libraries.

Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 1 year or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier.
