Salary in the range of £33,809 to £37,684 per annum, with potential progression up to £47,105 per annum


We are seeking two motivated legal professionals who are comfortable working as part of a small team to join our in-house legal team to provide support for the work of the University and several of it’s subsidiary companies.

About the Role

In this role you will review, negotiate, draft and advise on the terms and conditions of a diverse range of contracts and agreements to ensure that they do not expose the University or subsidiary to unreasonable risk, comply with current legislation, are appropriate for the University’s status as an educational charity, and follow the University’s policies, procedures and regulations. This may often be against challenging deadlines.

The role will also include maintaining legal files to ensure a clear audit trail, meeting with stakeholders to explain legal risk and carrying out research to keep up to date on legal and compliance developments.

About You

You will hold an English Law degree or equivalent and have a sound knowledge of commercial and contract law. You will have excellent drafting, negotiation, project management and communication skills. It is essential that you are able to break down and understand complex issues using a methodical and logical approach.

Sitting within the Finance PSU, the legal team help to protect the University and its subsidiaries through the identification and mitigation of risks associated with their business operations, providing legal advice in that respect to employees from multiple backgrounds at all levels within the organisations.

The team supports all business units with negotiating, drafting and amending a wide range of legal commercial agreements, giving advice and assistance to resolve legal disputes. The team also has some involvement with property leases and licences as well as airport specific matters.
