We are seeking a resourceful Careers Manager to cover a period of maternity leave to join our Employability team. Working on a hybrid basis you will spend 3 days a week at our Leeds campus and will travel to Sheffield fortnightly, with the ability to work from home 2 days per week, subject to the needs and demands of the business. 

Our Careers Manager sits at the heart of the department and is responsible for ensuring the optimum delivery of the careers provision working to the overall Employability Strategy where our ethos is ‘Developing the 2020s Professional – a work ready global graduate’ and reflects our commitment to not just supporting students in their initial job search, but to prepare them for the career that follows. 

As our Careers Manager, you will: 

  • Develop and ensure optimum delivery of the careers provision for both the Leeds and Sheffield campuses to include;
  • Open days
  • Inductions
  • 1:1 careers guidance appointments (including e-guidance)
  • Mentoring scheme
  • Employer talks/fairs
  • Alumni support
  • Design a careers programme for the Leeds and Sheffield campuses
  • Establish, develop and manage close links with firms, chambers, other employers who are or may be recruiting, promoting the vacancy/recruitment services and ensuring employer contribution to events within the University.
  • Contributing towards delivery of National Projects
  • Organise and attend on campus events and career fairs both locally and nationally
  • Provide leadership to our Employability Assistant and Ambassadors

We are looking for people who are/have: 

  • Experienced in either careers counselling/guidance of similar advisory work OR
  • Experience of professional recruitment OR
  • Experience of the legal sector
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proficient interviewing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a Team Leader
