The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We invite applications for the fixed-term post of Lecturer (Teaching) in Ethnographic and Documentary Film. The successful applicant will deliver teaching within the MA Ethnographic and Documentary Film course, taking pedagogical, managerial and pastoral responsibility for one ‘Studio’ within this programme.
The post holder will also deliver a one-term module in practical documentary filmmaking to undergraduate students, and mentor a number of MA Ethnographic and Documentary Film students through the production of their graduation films, steering them from conception to completion, and support one iteration of the Open City Documentary Summer Film School as a secondary lead.
This is a fixed-term appointment for eight months and is available from January 2022 to August 2022 to cover extended maternity leave.
Key Requirements
Applicants should have a proven record of excellence in ethnographic and documentary film making, and substantial experience of teaching creative documentary and ethnographic film at MA level. They will be able to contribute to the teaching in the MA Ethnographic and Documentary Film course and to other stand-alone practical documentary filmmaking courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. They will also take a leading role in providing pastoral care for the students.
