Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Engineering Design and Innovation

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader, (commensurate with experience) with demonstrable research expertise in the delivery of innovative and impactful research into methods for engineering design and innovation, focused on one or more of the research challenge themes of net zero, sustainable energy, healthcare technologies, and manufacturing, including agriculture.

Our ideal candidate will undertake world class innovation, mission-led research programmes that complement their research, along with contributing to excellent student experience via research-led teaching and assessment. The post holder will also contribute to wider School and University administration and outreach activities.

The successful candidate will help shape our future undergraduate and postgraduate curriculums as well as contribute to interdisciplinary teaching activities across the breadth of the University portfolio within their area of competence. They will also be engaged in the development of new interdisciplinary teaching activities in the domain of design and innovation practices.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: 

  • Honours Degree or Equivalent in a relevant subject. Relevant subjects would include Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Design, Business although alternative relevant subject areas accepted. 
  • Hold a PhD in a relevant subject. 
  • Demonstrable postdoctoral experience in a relevant role with a research/innovation responsibility. 
  • Demonstrable breadth and depth of specialist knowledge to teach at undergraduate and or/postgraduate levels across the School UG/PGT provision.
