Job Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a leading research-intensive university (http://www.nus.edu.sg/ ) that is consistently ranked among the world’s top universities. Established in 2004, the Department of Communications and New Media (CNM) (http://www.fass.nus.edu.sg/cnm/ ) is a leader in communication and new media research and education. It offers undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programmes in communications and new media studies, with an innovative curriculum that introduces students to key debates in the areas of media and communication studies, communication management, interactive media design and cultural studies. Its students undertake industry immersion through its compulsory internship programme. Successful candidates for these positions will join an engaging community of 32 full-time faculty and approximately 800 undergraduate and graduate students.
We seek applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: corporate communication, public relations, campaign management, social media PR, and public relations writing. Candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in strategic communication and will have demonstrated current industry knowledge of corporate communication. Experience in crafting media statements and PR writing would be an advantage.
Qualifications
Successful candidates must have a PhD in Communication or a closely related discipline by date of appointment; evidence of excellent teaching; approximately three (3) years of teaching experience in higher education settings; and experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds including international students as well as adult and professional learners in both online and face-to-face classrooms.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach in the Communications and New Media undergraduate programme, Master of Social Sciences (Communication) programmes. Other duties include supervision of honours students and graduate students, and administrative service. The anticipated start date is 1 July 2023 prior to the beginning of the semester in August 2023.

- A preface (maximum 300 words) that makes the case for your appointment. This should be highly distilled summary of your key contributions to student learning and educational leadership, guided by your teaching philosophy.
- A Teaching Statement that focuses on evidence of student learning and educational leadership (if applicable). Note that the Teaching Statement, together with documents on research (where applicable) and service contributions should be no more than a maximum of 3,000 words. Examples of consideration that can guide the candidate in making a case for teaching impact and leadership, with a focus on self, students, others, scholarship, future plans.
- Teaching evaluations and peer review reports, if available. Other evidence of teaching excellence and/or other contributions to education e.g. curriculum development, pedagogical innovation, etc. should be provided.
- A complete list of publications, grouped according to papers, books, and reviews, including page numbers, in bibliographic form. Citation (excluding self-citations and in the case of co-authored work, cross-citations) and impact analysis of research output, highlighting papers with the highest citation counts, and creative works with high impact. Some record of disciplinary research (particularly research that informs teaching) is considered an advantage and not a requirement on the Educator Track. Note that the documents on research (together with the Teaching Statement and documents on service contributions) should be no more than a maximum of 3,000 words.
