Role

We seek to appoint two Lecturers/Senior Lecturers (equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor) to our Psychology in Education Research Centre (http://www.york.ac.uk/education/research/perc/ ). We are looking for outstanding candidates who will conduct research in any area of Psychology in Education and contribute to teaching and supervision on the BPS-accredited BSc and MSc Psychology in Education programmes and/or the MSc Mental Health & Wellbeing in Education.

Your role will be to develop funding applications, carry out research projects and lead on and/or contribute to the production of research outputs and research outcomes. You will also be expected to design, develop and deliver teaching on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, to carry out supervision and to undertake administrative and managerial responsibilities.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with research expertise in mental health and wellbeing. This may include, but is not limited to, mental and emotional health in children or adolescents, mental health and well-being interventions in schools, trauma and resilience, counselling and therapy and psychopathology. We would also be interested to hear from candidates with expertise in educational evaluation and RCT methods.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • PhD in the field of psychology, education, or a closely related discipline
  • Proven ability to contribute to relevant high quality research
  • Experience of applying for research funding
  • Ability to design and deliver teaching across a range of BPS subject areas
  • Experience of taking responsibility for and planning teaching, learning, and supervision at undergraduate and, ideally, postgraduate level

Appointment to Senior Lecturer would be made primarily in relation to the experience and career stage of individual candidates.

In addition to the above, candidates should be able to demonstrate that they meet the following criteria:

  • Outstanding qualities and achievements in scholarship and research at a national and international level
  • Proven track record in research with high quality publications and an ability to demonstrate research leadership both internally and externally
  • Experience of generating research income
  • An extensive track record of teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and postgraduate level and in leading colleagues in teaching and research
