We seek to appoint two new research-focussed academics to sustain and grow RVC's international leadership in the field of One Health research. We are looking for candidates with active research programmes that have the potential to flourish and grow at RVC. We expect to make appointments on RVC's 70% research / 30% teaching track, and expect to appoint at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. The posts are permanent not fixed term positions. Other arrangements may be considered under exceptional circumstances.

The remit of One Health will be interpreted broadly. We encourage applications from those who undertake inter-disciplinary research that addresses global challenges including food safety and security, climate and environment, and the threats to humans and animals from infectious disease. We also expect to appoint at least one candidate whose One Health research is based on strong expertise in quantitative, statistical or computational biology, including but not limited to genomics and metagenomics, bioinformatics, data science, and modern statistics including machine learning.

The postholders will be based in RVC’s Department of Pathobiology and Population Sciences, which has a long-standing reputation for excellence and impact in One Health research and teaching. The Department is home to both an FAO Reference Centre (in Veterinary Epidemiology), and a WOAH Collaborating Centre (in Risk Analysis and Modelling) with collaborative links worldwide. The postholders' research will complement and synergise with existing research teams exploring (i) Safe and Sustainable Food, (ii) Livestock Production and Health, (iii) Host Pathogen Interactions and Vaccinology and (iv) Veterinary epidemiology and public health. The postholders will work with the Head of PPS to deliver the Department’s research and teaching objectives.
