Overview

About the Role

We are looking for applicants with experience in delivering core mechanical engineering education in areas such as thermofluids, engineering mechanics or electromechanical systems.

We look for well-respected individuals with strong pedagogical expertise in the design and delivery of education to a diverse student population at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels and are also particularly interested in individuals with experience or interest in educational leadership. The post has a substantial involvement in educational delivery with 25% allocated time for scholarship, in which an emphasis on engineering education pedagogy is expected.

About You

Candidates should have.

  • experience of educational delivery at undergraduate level and an interest in curriculum development, novel pedagogies, or inclusive education. Emphasis is placed on engineering practice and preparation for a professional engineering career. Candidates with industrial experience and professional practice are welcomed.
  • able to demonstrate teaching expertise or potential in covering the fundamentals in one or more of thermodynamics or thermofluids, engineering mechanics, control systems engineering, or electromechanical systems.

The post holder will be expected to act as subject lead with an extensive up-to-date knowledge of the field. A commitment to high quality teaching, student support, providing feedback, and development of new pedagogies is essential to support our thriving undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. Appointment as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer based on experience.

This role is in the School of Engineering and Materials Science, which has 100+ academics. Our London operation serves 1600+ undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, along with 200+ PhD students, with support from around 45 administrative and technical staff.
