The Leicester School of Pharmacy has three UG programmes, including the highly regarded BSc in Forensic Science. The dedicated facilities include a new Forensic Science laboratory, designed to replicate current practice.

Role

The Leicester School of Pharmacy has an excellent reputation for the delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will join an enthusiasticteam working in modern teaching and research facilities. As part of the continuing development and expansion of the School we have a fixed-term vacancy (maternity cover) for a highly motivated lecturer in Forensic Science/Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will be a key part of the Forensic Science team and will be responsible for the delivery of teaching as well as undertaking other responsibilities and duties normally expected with the role. You will contribute to teaching within the School, focussing on human genetics and DNA analysis. You will be encouraged to contribute to research and administration within the School and Faculty.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you should have an BSc. (Hons.) degree (or equivalent qualification) in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, forensic science, or a related discipline. A PhD and a good understanding of the application of genetics to forensic science are essential. Experience of teaching at HE level is desirable, but not essential for this role. The appointee will be expected to contribute to research and consultancy income generation within the Faculty. We also place high value on contributions to academic citizenship activity in the School.
