We are seeking a dedicated, innovative EAP practitioner at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level, starting in the Autumn of 2022, and invite applications from experienced and ambitious team players who share our enterprising approach. For this post, you will have considerable experience of ELT in a variety of contexts, including EAP in a UK university environment and Pre-sessional courses in particular. You can expect to teach across all levels from Pre-sessional (PEP) through to Postgraduate, and will also play a significant role in managing the Access EAP PEP.

You will also be involved in the development of the new UON Language Centre. In addition to delivering teaching excellence, you can expect to make a significant contribution to curriculum and other developments, particularly on undergraduate and postgraduate English language modules within the University.

About you

The candidate should have a Masters’ degree in applied linguistics/TESOL or equivalent and significant relevant experience. Ideally, the candidate should also have a doctorate in a cognate subject – or demonstrate a willingness to work towards this, which the University would be willing to support.

You should also be able to provide high quality management of large and/or non-standard modules and programmes, proactively implementing established quality assurance processes and leading the design and implementation of quality enhancement initiatives including the development of new modules and programmes delivered in single or multiple locations.

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics/TESOL

Desirable;

  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion 
  • Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) or equivalent
  • Professional Recognition as BALEAP TEAP Fellow, or willingness to obtain with an agreed timescale
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Library and Learning Services 

Library and Learning Services (LLS) consists of the University Library (incorporating Academic Services and Service Development) and also the areas of Learning Technology and Learning & Teaching Enhancement (which includes Educational Linguistics). Learning and Teaching Enhancement is both staff and student facing; it provides flexible opportunities for students to develop a broad range of academic literacies and also works collaboratively with faculty-based colleagues to share expertise in academic integrity, academic practice, learning design, learning development and educational linguistics to enhance learning and teaching practice.
