Salary:

Grade 8: £49,803.29 - £58,613.29 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (pro rata)

Grade 9 : £60,239 - £69,132 per annum inclusive of London Weighting (pro rata)

About the Department:

The SOAS Economics Department has a mission to address the most urgent issues of our times. Today these include the rampant environmental catastrophe, historic levels of inequality, health, economic and social crises, etc. The Department exercises leadership internationally in political economy, development and heterodox economics, and does so by bringing a unique regional lens to bear on its analysis. Research in the Department proceeds along a set of themes including money and finance; nutrition, health and development; informal economies; international financial institutions; feminist political economy and ecological macroeconomics.

About the Role

The Department of Economics invites applications for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Economics. The Department is looking to recruit a talented economist with an excellent record in teaching who will contribute to the mission of the Department, as one of the leading heterodox economics and political economy departments in the UK, with particular regional expertise in Asia, Africa and the Middle East as well as Europe and Latin America. The Department is looking for a candidate with ability to provide high quality teaching in econometrics and quantitative methods with R and other computer software, and pedagogical leadership in economics training from a pluralist perspective at UG and PG levels. This includes the convening and teaching of modules, and supervision of dissertations. The candidate will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Economics. The candidate is expected to have teaching experience and potential for leadership in teaching as well as academic citizenship in the Economics Department.
