As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for a high-calibre individual to join us as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Criminology in our Academic Team based in Birmingham. 

Reporting into our Academic Manager, you will be providing tuition across The University of Law course portfolio including, Criminology programmes and/or other University courses to the best possible standard. 

As a Lecturer at University of Law, you will:

  • Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
  • Identify the need for developing the content, structure, assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved.
  • Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design.
  • Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
  • Act as a module tutor, academic coach and sign-post students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey.

We are looking for people who are/have:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards*.
  • Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE*
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of professional ex
  • experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
  • Professional, credible, commands respect

* Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation. Successful completion/ qualification is essential to this role.

*Please note: For Senior Lecturers you will have developed significant expertise in: Application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.
