Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Atmospheric Chemistry

The School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Atmospheric Chemistry on a teaching and research pathway. You will have the opportunity to join the world renowned and rapidly growing Atmospheric Chemistry Research Group (ACRG), where you will build and deliver an independent research portfolio in Atmospheric Chemistry or a closely related discipline. Research foci could include, but are not limited to, greenhouse gases, ozone depletion and ozone depleting substances, urban air pollution, tropospheric chemistry, and chemistry climate interactions. Depending on expertise, you will contribute to courses in Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, quantitative or analytical methods or scientific computing.

You will develop and deliver an ambitious programme of research in Atmospheric Chemistry. This will include leading and supporting the writing of academic publications, developing funding proposals, producing software or instrumentation, and supervising postgraduate students and junior researchers. Where relevant, you should work with key stakeholders to co-design research and ensure impact from your research outputs.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to teaching in a range of courses in the recently redeveloped School of Chemistry undergraduate curriculum, and in newly announced postgraduate courses in Environmental Chemistry and Scientific Computing. Courses are delivered through lectures, workshops, seminars, research project supervision, and small group tutorials. You would contribute to student wellbeing and personal tutorials.

We are seeking a researcher in Atmospheric Chemistry with a clear trajectory for leadership in their field. Your teaching experience should allow you to contribute to the development and delivery of the School of Chemistry undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. We welcome applicants whose work has substantial real-world impact, and who have a track record of co-developing research with non-academic stakeholders. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will allow them to work closely with the wider ACRG team, and support and mentor junior colleagues. We strongly encourage applications from all backgrounds, especially those historically underrepresented in academia.

Contract type:Permanent/open ended, subject to satisfactory performance.

Work pattern: Full time/1FTE

Grade: Grade J-L/ Pathway 1

Salary: £41,732 - £46,974 (Grade J), £48,350 - £54,395 (Grade K) and £57,696 - £64,914 (Grade L) per annum
