Adjunct Lecturers Needed For Psychology for fixed term

The American Institute of Foreign Study (AIFS) is looking for experienced professors to teach several courses for spring in psychology. Class sizes are very small by UK higher education standards – usually 10/15 . Most all students are from the USA, completing a semester abroad to enhance their home campus learning. Teaching is face to face, once a week for 3.5 hours, with classes beginning January 27 to April 29, 2022 which equates to 12 session, 1 week off, followed by 12 sessions. We are looking for experienced lecturers with a Masters and with an interest in the following modules:

The Science of Wellbeing. This course will provide an interdisciplinary overview of wellbeing as a scientific construct, with its underpinning biological, psychological, cultural and social determinants, exploring the factors that contribute to the wellbeing of individuals and populations.

Attention and Awareness: Cross-Cultural and Individual Differences. This course is concerned with the study of the scientific investigation of attention, an aspect of human cognition that plays a fundamental role in our awareness of the world and our engagement with it.

Narrative Psychology: Making Sense of Ourselves. This course will discuss the development of narrative psychology and the assertion that stories and storytelling provide meaning to individuals’ experience, shape their memories of past events and their understanding of the future, and importantly serve to define the self.

Psychology of Ageing. This course will cover three major themes in the psychology of aging: mind, brain, and behavior.
