Engineering

The School of Engineering is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer or teaching fellow who will make an important contribution to our teaching and learning provision in the subject area of engineering robotics, embedded systems and applied AI.

The school has a diverse body of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and we have an opportunity for a new member to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity for an early career academic or experienced industry practitioner to take on an exciting role and to develop a career shaping the next generation of professional engineers.

We wish to appoint an individual who can teach from Level 3 through to Level 7. Using both their subject expertise and their experience in a research or industry environment, the successful candidate will engage and inspire our students.

The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring an outstanding student experience and will:

  • Lead on the delivery of teaching robotics, dynamics and control, and modern embedded systems, contributing to relevant modules at all levels.
  • Contribute to the broader teaching portfolio across the school, supporting curriculum enrichment, recruitment, and outreach.
  • Develop engaging and authentic practical experiences for students.
  • Lead projects with industry and other organisations to enhance the teaching capability of the school.
  • Contribute to the pastoral care and academic supervision of taught students.
  • Contribute to an excellent learning environment, which is oriented towards achieving high levels of employability for the School of Engineering’s graduates.

Research and scholarship are core activities within the School of Engineering. The appointed person will be encouraged and supported to sustain and develop their research and scholarship. Candidates will hold an honours degree or postgraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

Informal enquiries may be made to the Subject Head, Dr Russell English ([email protected]).

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.
