Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

The School of Psychology has a thriving and vibrant research culture and outstanding teaching and research facilities. Within the school, the Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/research/centres-and-institutes/research-centre-for-brain-and-behaviour  brings our research together under four main themes: Neuroscience, Health and Wellbeing, Forensic Psychology and Cognition, Education and Language. Within these themes, staff currently hold substantial research grants from funders including Euro EU Chanse, Wellcome, NIHR, ESRC, BA, NHS Trusts, and a range of charitable organisations. Due to our continued success, we have submitted over 42 FTE staff to REF2021, increased our Research Power (from 27 in 2014 to 76 in 2021) and were ranked 37 out of 93 Institutions for Research Power. In the last National Student Survey, we scored above the benchmark for all themes and saw an increase in our ranking across all major league tables, including The Times, Guardian, and Good University Guide.

We are now looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Psychology. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and motivated team at a significant time of growth for the School of Psychology and the Faculty of Health. This post will ensure we uphold our excellent staff student ratios and support our continued ambition to become a leader in the sector, building on our delivery of excellent teaching and research. We will consider applicants with expertise in any area of psychology and are interested in attracting enthusiastic and committed individuals. Importantly, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to providing an outstanding student experience.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to our successful BPS Accredited programmes at undergraduate, Masters (Forensic and Investigative Psychology, Health Psychology) and Doctoral (Health Psychology) levels depending on your qualifications and experience. In addition, the School has a MSc in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing and a MSc in Brain and Behaviour.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.

Informal enquiries may be made to Prof Helen Poole ([email protected] ), Dr Jennifer Chopra ([email protected] ), or Dr Ralph Pawling ([email protected] ).

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.
