The School of Geography and Environmental Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Associate Professor in Human Geography. This appointment will strengthen the Economy, Society and Governance (ESG) and/or Population, Health and Wellbeing (PHeW) research group(s). We particularly welcome applications from scholars active in one or both of the following areas:
- Quantitative social geography, including use of surveys, administrative data and big data to research socio-spatial inequalities, especially as they relate to migration, uneven development and/or the social geographies of climate change and the green transition.
- Critical environmental geography, including the politics and economics of climate change and the green transition, especially as they relate to food, resources, migration and/or development.
Teaching activities for this post will be primarily on the BA Geography programmes, with a possible contribution to the School’s MSc programmes. They will involve lectures, tutorials, practicals, seminars and/or fieldwork. We welcome applicants committed to teaching across these programmes, including on core introductory modules, research methods training modules and residential fieldtrips. There may also be scope for developing new modules in specialist disciplinary areas, and for developing innovative modes of teaching and learning. We welcome applicants interested in, and/or experienced with, decolonising the curriculum. Training towards a Post-graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) qualification will be provided as appropriate. The School and University also offer mentorship support and a variety of opportunities for skills-building and professional development.
The post is tenable from 1st September 2024.
