The University of Southampton welcomes applications for a position in Chemical Engineering at Lecturer or Associate Professor level. We are particularly interested in candidates with a major focus on the application of computational tools, who may or may not combine that focus with practical work. Research areas of interest include:

  • Data driven tools in chemical engineering for industry 4.0.
  • Digital twin for process optimisation, control, and integration.
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to chemical engineering.
  • Process systems engineering for sustainable chemical manufacturing.
  • Applications of modelling and data analytics in healthcare, energy, and food sectors.

About the role

You will build/maintain an internationally recognised independent research programme. You will contribute to the School in a leadership, research, enterprise and educational capacity.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Clear plans to build an ambitious independent research programme.
  • Potential to raise external research funding from UK research councils, EU, charities and industry.
  • An ability to inspire and support students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion.
