This exciting opportunity is a fixed term position for 18 months covering teaching and research responsibilities. Based at the Glyntaff campus, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and deliver learning materials in the areas of ecology and wildlife biology, with a particular focus on conservation, wildlife studies, data analysis and applied field skills; this may include delivery of residential and international field courses. Alongside this, the position will support the work of a Research Fellowship with Welsh Government. In line with USW’s 2030 Strategy (https://www.southwales.ac.uk/about/our-strategy ), the successful candidate is expected to be involved in research or scholarly activity (which may be professional practice-based) to deliver evidence-based practice, and/or research-based learning within the curriculum. It is expected that the candidate would engage with activities of the USW Accelerated Development Area (ADA) of Sustainable Environment seeking to collaborate internally and externally on relevant projects.

Reporting to the Head of Biological and Forensic Sciences, this Lecturer role requires a proactive individual with relevant knowledge and expertise. The candidate will need to possess strong mentoring and pastoral care skills. In addition to student interfacing activities, the role will require engagement in various academic administration processes related to quality assurance and enhancement as well as engagement by the candidate in marketing and recruitment activities.
