Lecturer in Screenwriting & Development - Part time, permanent
£40,322 - £49,553 per annum (Grade 6)
In the past 15 years, the MA Screenwriting programme at Edinburgh Napier has evolved to become one of the strongest in the UK, challenging students to deliver a range of creative work in different formats for film and television, and to develop craft skills in screenwriting, script editing and development along with an awareness of the changing global landscapes of film and television.
We now wish to appoint a part-time Lecturer to deliver face to face teaching into our postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, and to help design and deliver a new online Masters programme in Screenwriting and Development. This will be a 0.5 position (2.5 days / 17.5 hours per week) with a permanent contract. You will join a growing and vibrant research centre which is seeking to build on this year’s REF submission to grow income and PhD student numbers.
Edinburgh Napier University is the ‘#1 Modern University in Scotland’. An innovative, learner centric university with a modern and fresh outlook, Edinburgh Napier is ambitious, inclusive in its ethos and applied in its approach.
The University is committed to delivering a personalised learning experience for students, set against an agenda of inclusivity, employability and sustainability. We have an outstanding academic reputation for delivering the highest quality education and research, alongside a purpose to add value to the social, cultural and economic capital of its communities to empower individuals, transform communities, build careers and shape futures.
You will work within the small, dedicated team to deliver teaching (both face to face and online) across an expanding range of programmes at post-graduate and undergraduate level.
You will help design and deliver a fully online global Masters in Screenwriting and Development. This new programme will reflect our focus on student-centred teaching and learning for emerging screenwriters and those wishing to work in script development, while enabling asynchronous engagement from wherever in the world students may be living.
You will be actively engaged in current professional practice and committed to enhancing and expanding connections between our students and the creative industries in which they wish to work.
You will be enthusiastic about working with colleagues within the subject area of Screen and Media and in cross-disciplinary work across the university. You will be responsible for working independently and as part of a small team supporting others.
