Underpinned by a range of modern psychology laboratories and equipment , our suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are informed by theories of self-determined learning, such as Team Based learning, to ensure they are socially inclusive . Furthermore, the Department of Psychology has local and global research collaborations, such as with the Wolfson Centre for Applied Research , that means it is a vibrant contributor to the University of Bradford’s research strengths in Health and Care, the Engineered Environment and Sustainable Societies.
What you will be doing
As Lecturer, you will have responsibilities for research that builds on the University’s research strengths. Having a PhD in psychology or related discipline, you will develop your own research projects, as well as forming and contributing to teams designing, conducting, and disseminating novel research, including funding applications.
Drawing upon your teaching experience, you will be able to contribute your expertise to several of the British Psychological Society Graduate Basis for Membership curriculum areas (Accreditation Standard 2.1.4). As a module leader, you will develop and deliver socially inclusive learning opportunities across the psychology programmes for students from diverse entry pathways. You will also be supported to enhance teaching using theoretically informed methodologies, so that we meet our social mobility pledge and continue to be a university for social inclusion.
Embodying the University’s values of excellence, inclusion, innovation and trust, you will be collegiate and take an active role in building friendly and supportive relationships with staff, students and postgraduate researchers. You will work in a range of teams, such as module teaching teams, supervision teams and research projects. You will also provide pastoral support and mentoring, particularly in supporting those facing barriers to engaging in university life.
