The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic lecturer to join us to lead modules in L4 in Product Design. This is an opportunity to work with a creative team in the 3D Department , Kingston School of Art . You will contribute to the teaching, professional engagement, and research activities of the department. You will be expected to teach L4 students in the first instance. You will be expected to support the team and Head of Department to develop the Product Design subject within the department and to engage with validation of new courses. 

You will have a profile as a product designer and maker with the necessary experience of teaching in product & furniture design. You will have a role in retaining our reputation and enhancing our teaching and learning experience as part of the community of educators, practitioners and researchers working at undergraduate and postgraduate level within the 3D Department, which is part of the Design School at Kingston School of Art.

The Person

The 3D Design Department is one of the four departments in the highly successful Kingston School of Art’s Design School. The 3D Design Department’s portfolio consists of BA Interior Design, BA Product & Furniture Design, 3D Graduate Diploma, MA Interior Design, MA Product & Furniture Design and MA Sustainable Design. The ethos of the department is Thinking Through Making. We are a close-knit community, with good industry links, excellent research, and an enterprise culture. Our graduates are sought after, with many winning awards for their graduate projects at prestigious forums such as New Designers and Arts Thread. Many of our staff are well established industry practitioners.

We are looking for an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic lecturer, with an inspiring approach to teaching product design to undergraduate and/or postgraduate design students. We believe that distinct courses in our subject are identified through their ambitious approach, that nurtures student’s skills and sensibilities. We are looking for a key person to join our growing academic team – to help retain the quality and enhance the experience of students and staff of an ambitious undergraduate course. We aim to grow our digital capability and develop further new technology use in the subject.

This is a part-time fixed term position (7 months) with a starting salary of £34,549.60 per annum (80% pro rata to £43,187.00).
