We invite a plant science academic to develop their career and build a research team within our internationally-recognised Plant Science Laboratory .
About the Role
You will develop and lead a programme of internationally competitive research and consultancy in aspects of postharvest research, for example addressing research gaps in fundamental and applied areas related to dormancy, shelf-life, nutrition, or other topics important for the “Food Loss and Waste” and “Nutritional Security” agendas. A major part of the role will be to win research funding, manage projects and supervise postgraduate research students. You will collaborate with our existing postharvest academic staff, and seek synergy with our teams of plant scientists, mycologists, soil scientists and bioinformaticians. You will contribute to the design, planning and delivery of postgraduate teaching.
About You
You will have a PhD and a track-record of high-impact publications in the plant sciences, including postharvest-related work. You will have a passion for devising hypothesis-driven research projects that drive back the frontiers of understanding biological systems and an interest in using your skills to reduce the wastage of food. You will have an appetite for postgraduate teaching and supervision.
