Lecturer in Post-Production

The Department of Film and Television in the School of Arts at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a colleague to the role of Lecturer in Post-Production. The appointee will contribute to the Department of Film and Television’s excellence in the delivery of creative approaches to screen production.

The successful candidate will be experienced in industrial screen post-production techniques and approaches, with demonstrable capacity for teaching, project supervision and a commitment to continuing professional development.

Experienced film, television and/or screen media professionals and educators are welcome to apply, but we are particularly interested in those able to offer experience and high-level skills in one or more of the following areas: Online and Offline Editing, Edit Producing, Motion Graphics in DaVinci Resolve/Black Magic Studios.

As a member of the Department of Film and Television you will make a distinctive contribution to the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in film and television, focusing on creative approaches to film and/or television post-production and skills delivery. The expectation is that you will be able to offer teaching beyond the scope of your particular specialism.

The successful candidate will be a committed educator and will contribute to developing our curriculum in the areas of film and television post-production.

You will also be an outstanding screen industries professional, with a demonstrable track record for successful industrial post-production production work.

You have a sustained record of industrial (or industrial and academic) experience within the creative and screen industries. You will be able to provide evidence of a commitment to education, be it formal industrial or academic work as a teacher, or in industry as a mentor. You will be expected to demonstrate an active industrial network, an ongoing commitment to professional development and sustained experience working in the screen industries.

The ideal candidate will also be an enthusiastic educator.  You will be able to demonstrate a pedagogic approach to teaching post-production skills and creative problem solving in service of screen media creation.

We welcome applicants whose industrial production work is both world-leading and transnational, international, or global in scope. This position is available from September 2026, but later start dates can be negotiated.

Contract type: Open ended from 2nd September 2026

Work pattern: 1 FTE (Part time and job shares will be considered for the right candidate)

Grade: J

Salary: £44,746 – £50,253 per annum (pro rata if applicable)

School/Unit: School of Arts 

Shift pattern: Monday - Friday
