The role
You will contribute to extending the research profile of Philosophy at Exeter, particularly in the various areas relevant to Egenis, our world-leading Centre for the Study of Life Sciences. The successful candidate should have research interests in philosophy relating to one or more of Egenis’ research strands: Biology and Environment; Health and Biomedical Research; Mind, Body and Culture; and Data, Knowledge and Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will pursue independent, internationally-recognised research in one or more of these areas, with the potential to attract research funding. The ability to consider how your research area will be impacted by developments in artificial intelligence will be an advantage. You will also be able to contribute high-quality teaching to our undergraduate and graduate level programmes in philosophy.
About you
You will have:
- A PhD or equivalent in Philosophy and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in the Philosophy of Science
- A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrative potential to attract such funding
- An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
- Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
- Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
- Involvement in projects which develop impact
