About the Role

The Institute is looking for an outstanding individual to join the WHRI’s vibrant working environment. The successful candidate will become a Lecturer will contribute to the intellectual life of the School / Institute and wider institution and research field of molecular pharmacology, as well as taking a full part in the educational goals of WHRI. 

About You

The successful candidate will have a PhD in pharmacy or pharmacology, with experience and skills in the area of inflammation research as well as an established record of publication in well-regarded journals. The post will focus on therapeutic innovation, and will aim to develop an exciting research programme on drug discovery, bringing together pharmacogenomics and other system biology approaches to complement experimental models of disease. Skills and experience in these areas in addition to bioinformatics are also necessary.

About the Institute

The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI) was established in 1986 and is one of eight Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises over 580 staff based in eight academic Centres, and around 300 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver research and teaching excellence across three general themes: cardiovascular, inflammation and endocrinology within which are also embedded groups of excellence in intensive care and renal disease.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 1 January 2022. The starting salary will be Grade 5/6, in the range of £43,069 - £53,625 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
