The Communications Technology and Mathematics

The Communications Technology and Mathematics subject area within the School of Computing and Digital Media provides a range of pre-undergraduate, undergraduate, postgraduate and short courses in the disciplines of Electronic Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Our aim is to equip our diverse students with the academic, problem solving, technological and workplace skills necessary to enter the employment market.

ABOUT THE POST

The School of Computing and Digital Media at London Metropolitan University is currently recruiting for a part time (0.6 FTE) Lecturer in Mathematics to undertake teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Communications Technology and Mathematics subject area with an emphasis on developing an inclusive teaching environment to support the student learning experience.

You will contribute to teaching, assessment and associated administration involved in delivering modules in a wide range of areas and levels within the subjects of Mathematics and Statistics. You will be expected to prepare, deliver and assess coursework, assignments, examinations and project work, and provide tutorial guidance to students, working alongside the teaching team. You will assist in the development of courses in Mathematics area and deployment of retention strategies which enhance the student experience, as well as retention, progression and achievement surrounding the relevant courses.

- highly competitive salary THE CANDIDATE You will be a graduate with a PhD in Mathematics or working towards one.

You will have:

- Experience and knowledge of teaching Mathematics courses.

- Knowledge of Mathematical/Statistical software for teaching a variety of modules.

- An interest in engaging with employers for Enterprise initiatives.

- A genuine interest in supporting students in innovative and engaging ways. For this challenging and demanding role, you must be highly motivated, passionate about education and able to initiate and develop ideas and opportunities in teaching, learning and research. You will be a confident communicator able to relate to the student population and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
