The School of Geosciences seeks to appoint a full time Lecturer in Geology.  Consideration will be given to part-time working and job share. The post is tenable from May 1st 2024 until September 30th 2024 (up to 5 months). The principal duties of the role will be to undertake a mixture of research and develop teaching material for undergraduate geology courses. The research will link to the current interests of Professor Clare Bond, including fluid flow in deformed rock and Raman spectroscopy.

The role will contribute to our research interests in core geoscience subjects, and to undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate(s) should hold a PhD in Geology but given the nature of the short contract and timing, we have built flexibility into the role and will design a work program that takes into account the appointed candidates experience.   As such, consideration will be given to appointment at Research Assistant/Fellow or Teaching Assistant/Fellow.  A minimum of a BSc (Hons) in Geology is required.

 An interest in research and teaching development is desirable. Ideally, the candidate will be self-motivated and willing to bring their ideas to both research and teaching aspects. Candidates should be able to work as part of a team and be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues in other disciplines in the School and University.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on for the role appointed, with placement according to qualifications and experience. 

Research Assistant Grade 5: £31,396 - £34,980 per annum pro rata

Research Fellow Grade 6: £37,099 - £44,263 per annum pro rata

Lecturer (Teaching & Research) Grade 7: £45,585 - £54,395 per annum pro rata

Teaching Assistant Grade 5: £31,396 - £34,980 per annum pro rata

Teaching Fellow Grade 6: £37,099 - £44,263 per annum pro rata

Lecturer (Scholarship) Grade 7: £45,585 - £54,395 per annum pro rata
